The Conservative’s Handbook by Phil Valentine: Review

January 1st, 2009

Today Robin Smith shares a short review for the list of must read conservative books. You can follow her on twitter @robints.

I recently read Phil Valentine’s The Conservative’s Handbook: Defining the Right Position on Issues from A to Z. It is easy to read, making great political points with humor. You’ll love tidbits he shares such as his reference to environmental extremists as “dirt people” and his common sense approach to immigration. Phil offers personal experiences and snapshots from his talk radio program that was instrumental in keeping the state income tax from passing in the Tennessee Legislature.

I recommend The Conservative’s Handbook as a priority read for those who are in the arena fighting for our conservative principles. He does remind you…it is a fight.

From Derek: Special thanks to Robin for giving a short review. Anyone who is interested in writing a guest post reviewing a book from the conservative book list, please contact me using the information found on our about page.

The Conservative way is the authoritarian way. There are basically two types of conservatives - those who want to tell others what to do and what to think, and those who want someone to tell them what to do and what to think. And the latter always aspire to be the former.

With Liberals, Everyone is free to do their own thing - except for Conservatives because conservatives are always trying to thwart the Liberal way.

You apparently haven’t met real conservatives. Real conservatives want the government to get out of the way. They don’t want them telling them what to do. Hardly authoritarian.

So basically everybody is allowed to do what they want.. as long as they do what “liberals” want them to do.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. This coming from the liberals who want a government to nullify the capitalism system that america thrives on. Not to mention they want to force people to pay progressive taxes, force the majority to bend over backwards for the minorities in the country. maybe you should work on allowing knowing whta youre talking about so you dont look so ignorant.
