% of Cabinet Who Have Worked in Private Business

February 8th, 2010

I saw some great stats recently of the amount of cabinet members who worked in private business prior to being appointed. This administration is trying to run GM and AIG and is supposedly focused on creating jobs. The problem is, none of them have any experience in creating jobs. Take a look at this chart:

8% of Obama’s cabinet worked in private business. The lowest other than him were 30% and 32%, Kennedy and Carter. This is not the team we want trying to create jobs.

Do you still wonder why the unemployment rate is above 10% and climbing? These Guys and our President haven’t a clue how a free capitalist economy works. It’s all government don’t you know… cures all our ills…. just like the former Soviet Union.

I certainly don’t wonder why unemployment is so high. There are lots of reasons, but my personal favorite is that we have given people an incentive to not work by extending unemployment out over a year. Whatever you subsidize you will get more of.

I can agree about the incentive no to work to some extent. It is also the fact that working requires jobs to work at. Not everyone can become an entrepreneur and start up a new business. I know some who have, I have done it myself. Not easy to go that way and frequently unprofitable.

Where I work in the construction industry we are down to half capacity of workers and 1/3 of the work. We are not hiring anyone and if we do need the extra labour we will just increase the overtime. Right now however we are on short weeks.

But I am upset with the Auto and the banks getting handouts from the government. Even if it is a loan. At the same time if I borrowed money from the bank I would have to account for it and meet their conditions to get it, and if I did not pay it back I would be in trouble. The Companies getting the handout and crying foul when the Government wants to oversee the money is sour grapes. They should not be beging because beggars can’t be choosers.

It is all borrowed money, and it has to be paid back. The Chinese are going to rule the world. Bush borrowed from them to finance the war, Obama has done the same.
