% of Cabinet Who Have Worked in Private Business

February 8th, 2010

I saw some

8% of Obama’s cabinet worked in private business. The lowest other than him were 30% and 32%, Kennedy and Carter. This is not the team we want trying to create jobs.

    Do you still wonder why the unemployment rate is above 10% and climbing? These Guys and our President haven’t a clue how a free capitalist economy works. It’s all government don’t you know… cures all our ills…. just like the former Soviet Union.

    @Peter
    I certainly don’t wonder why unemployment is so high. There are lots of reasons, but my personal favorite is that we have given people an incentive to not work by extending unemployment out over a year. Whatever you subsidize you will get more of.

    I can agree about the incentive no to work to some extent. It is also the fact that working requires jobs to work at. Not everyone can become an entrepreneur and start up a new business. I know some who have, I have done it myself. Not easy to go that way and frequently unprofitable.

    Where I work in the construction industry we are down to half capacity of workers and 1/3 of the work. We are not hiring anyone and if we do need the extra labour we will just increase the overtime. Right now however we are on short weeks.

    But I am upset with the Auto and the banks getting handouts from the government. Even if it is a loan. At the same time if I borrowed money from the bank I would have to account for it and meet their conditions to get it, and if I did not pay it back I would be in trouble. The Companies getting the handout and crying foul when the Government wants to oversee the money is sour grapes. They should not be beging because beggars can’t be choosers.

    It is all borrowed money, and it has to be paid back. The Chinese are going to rule the world. Bush borrowed from them to finance the war, Obama has done the same.

    You are right. I come from a republican family so I know the code words. Yes, President Obama DOES appear to be black. And there are a lot of folks out there who just can’t handle that. LOL. Compared to the provable lies of the republicans this time around, it looks like you’re all going to have to wait until 2016 so you can vote for the fat slob from New Jersey.

    I have nothing but pity for the whole US political system. Not for any specific individual, but for the entire political culture. I’m sorry, but the hatred provoked by these threads never fails to make me feel sad for your country.

    I hope you guys chill out soon.
    (Maybe since the election is over you will)

    Just so you know writing in ALL CAPS means you are incorrect. It is the default status of wrong.

    There is an old adage that “those who can - do; those who can’t - teach” Most of the Obama cabinet came from academia so this seems to prove the adage. I get the feeling that Obama and his cabinet can’t do anything but lecture us.

    @bobabaloo Why do people blame the banks for following the law? The banks were “required by law’ to make those loans that led to the collapse of the system. The federal government required them to make loans to people who could not qualify normally or be fined.
