Budget Deficit, Unemployment, and Spending

February 4th, 2010

I’ve recently spent a bit of time discussing the budget deficit and how it is going to effect us, as well as unemployment and all the stimulus spending. Recently Paul from The Loud Talker sent me some beautiful charts that show where things have been recently. Check out his whole article on the deficit and take a look at these charts.

If anyone thinks that those deficits are needed, think again. They are going to kill our economy.

I thought they told me if we passed the government stimulus package unemployment would peak at 8 percent. I guess they were wrong.

If I remember my reading correctly, the Republicans had inflating the deficit at a much higher rate than the Democrats at least over the last few decades. It looks like this is all gonna change with the new budget though. :(.

well there is a graph above, clearly bush increased the deficit more than clinton. that being said, clinton was president during the tech bubble. It shouldn’t be too tough to have a revenue surplus during a time period like that. bush on the other hand got the tech bust along with 9/11. not exactly ideal. I am in no way condoning the wasteful deficit spending bush did, just pointing out the reasons things happened the way they did.
