Unintended Consequences Congress Never Saw Coming - Part 1
Congress always wants to accomplish something. They think that they have to have something on their resume to get re-elected. They need something to point to so they can say, “Hey, I did that for you, vote for me again and I’ll do more nice things.” Well, most of the time these things don’t really get thought through all the way, and much of the time we would prefer they just stay out of the way. Give the Defense Department some money to protect us, build a few roads, and stay the heck out of my life.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the way it works. At least not anymore. They always have to do “something” to help the voters. The following is a list of 3 things that have unintended consequences that are either effecting us now, or will effect us in the future if and when they are passed.

Talk about Media Bias
Susan Roesgen of CNN calls a picture of Bush with horns and a Hitler mustache “a lookalike” at 2006 anti-Bush rally. Yesterday at a tea party she said to a man with a picture of Obama with a Hitler mustache, “Do you realize how offensive that is?”
Do you realize how offensive you are Ms. Roesgen? Watch as she berates and interrupts this man at a rally in Chicago. She then describes the rally as anti-Government, anti-CNN, and highly promoted by the right wing conservative network Fox. Wow. Just wow. Thanks for the wonderful non-biased news.
Tax Day Tea Parties
The Tax Day Tea Party is a national collaborative grassroots effort organized by Smart Girl Politics, Top Conservatives on Twitter, the DontGo Movement and many other online groups/coalitions.
The Tea Party protests, in their current form, began in early 2009 when Rick Santelli, the On Air Editor for CNBC, set out on a rant to expose the bankrupt liberal agenda of the White House Administration and Congress. Specifically, the flawed “Stimulus Bill” and pork filled budget.
If you have the chance I would suggest that everyone participate in their local tea party protests. Show the government that we will not stand for the ridiculous amount of spending that is going on.
Go to TaxDayTeaParty.com and click on your state on the the right side of the page to find your local party.
The U.N. is Pathetic
U.N. - North Korea, don’t do that again, or else….
North Korea - Or else what?
U.N. - Ummmmm, or else we’ll tell you not to do it again. There, take that.
North Korea - *chuckles*
This is from an article from CNN:
The 15-member council voted unanimously for a statement by the president of the Security Council which also demands that North Korea make no more launches.
…
The statement says the rocket launch was “in contravention” to a 2006 Security Council resolution that demanded that North Korea not launch any ballistic missiles. It also calls for North Korea and other nations to “comply fully” with their obligations under that resolution, including certain sanctions.
Well will you look at that. They violated a U.N. resolution telling them not to launch ballistic missiles. In response, the U.N. tells them that they violated the resolution, as if North Korea didn’t know that, and that they should comply with the resolution. I’m sure they are shaking.
So much fail. Let me know in the comments what you think.
Captain Phillips Freed from Pirates!
A Navy rescue operation has freed the captain of the American ship that was hijacked this week. The captain jumped overboard, again, and this time the Navy came in and rescued him. 3 pirates were killed in the firefight and 1 injured. This is great news on Easter Sunday.

President Obama, the Vatican is Pro-Life
Apparently the Vatican would prefer President Obama select someone who is not pro-abortion to be their ambassador. Shocking I know, but apparently Obama has yet to figure that out. His latest choice, Caroline Kennedy, was recently blocked by the Vatican because she supports abortion.
Obama is obviously pro-choice. He supports the Freedom of Choice Act and has a record of voting to kill babies whenever possible. That still doesn’t explain this choice. Clearly the Vatican is not going to appreciate having an ambassador that shares Obama’s views. Just select somebody that is pro-life and get it over with. Surely he has more important things to spend his time on than who the ambassador to the Vatican is.
Gun Control Myths
This is a follow up to the restaurant carry bill being passed in the Tennessee House yesterday. The first video is from 20/20 on the myth of gun control. I have to say, it would be very hard for me to agree with Rosie O’Donnell or Al Sharpton on just about anything, but hey, to each his own. The second video is a testimony before Congress by Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp, a woman who survived a shooting while eating lunch with her parents. Both of her parents were killed by the crazy guy who decided to start killing people in a restaurant. The thing about these crazy guys, is you never know when or where they are going to snap.
Why don’t gun laws work? “Bad guys tend to ignore gun laws.” Imagine that.
“Guns are used 700,000 times a year in defensive situations.”
Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp testifying.
“I would much rather be sitting in jail with a felony offense on my head and have my parents alive.”
“The second amendment is not about duck hunting.”
Violent crimes occur every day in many many places. It could be at a restaurant, nursing home, gas station, or church, or it could happen in your home. Places you go every day. I pray that I am never in a situation where I need to defend myself or my family. I hope that if I am, I am prepared and able to protect the people I love.
